<초록> 우리 주변의 많은 현상은 네트워크 구조를 따른다. 인터넷과 사회적 관계뿐만 아니라 전염병 확산, 생물학적 시스템, 금융 시장 등에서도 네트워크를 활용한 분석이 이루어진다. 이 강연에서는 네트워크 과학의 기본 개념과 대표적인 네트워크 모델(무작위 네트워크, 스몰월드 네트워크, 스케일프리 네트워크)을 소개한다. 또한 네트워크를 분석하는 다양한 방법과 이를 통해 복잡한 시스템을 어떻게 이해할 수 있는지를 살펴본다. 전염병의 확산 경로, 정보의 흐름, 사회적 연결망의 구조를 분석하는 사례를 통해 네트워크 과학이 실생활에서 어떻게 활용되는지 이야기한다. 마지막으로, 네트워크 연구가 앞으로 어떤 방향으로 발전할지 함께 생각해보는 시간을 갖는다.
